Why Auto Add Item Lines?¶
When you sell or purchase certain items, additional products often need to be added as well — for example: packaging, deposits, accessories, fees, or other mandatory components. Doing this manually is time consuming and error prone. Auto Add Item Lines solves this by automatically inserting predefined “document items” whenever a user enters a sales or purchase line for a configured item.
This extension ensures consistency, saves time, and prevents mistakes across your entire order to cash and procure to pay process, making it a valuable tool for any business.
How Auto Add Item Lines Works¶
To use the Auto Add Item Lines app in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, configure document item mappings that define which related items should be automatically added to sales and purchase lines. Set quantity ratios, minimum quantities, and rounding rules for each mapping. Enable the feature per customer, vendor, ship‑to, or order address, or override it directly on the document header. When users enter or update document lines, the app automatically inserts and synchronizes the required related items. This ensures consistent, complete documents and eliminates manual work and errors during order processing.
How to Get Started¶
To get started with the Auto Add Item Lines extension, you need to install the extension in your Business Central environment from Microsoft Marketplace. Please note that you can try out the Auto Add Item Lines extension completely for free by installing it directly from Microsoft Marketplace in one of your Business Central Sandbox environments; no trial period, no obligations!
In our online Installation Manual you can find all the instructions you need to install the extension and configure permissions. Then it is just a matter of opening the Auto Add Item Lines Setup Wizard page and following the steps, as described in the Setup section of the installation manual.
